Janie Willison

My aim is to promote the best of what is happening in and around us all; good people doing good things through the arts and through non-profit and charitable endeavors. I care about what you are doing and care about how it is presented to the world.

I grew up in a small town in South Florida playing in the ocean. I went to Florida State where I earned a BS in Psychology and Early Childhood Education and was involved in social service organizations and the Black Actors Guild creating video and photo content (before “content creator” was a thing).

Next stop, the Alliance Theater in Atlanta for a marketing internship, where I learned about the humanity in great actors and how that characteristic carries far off the stage into their lives. I picked up some marketing skills but the true perks came from the relationships I was able to make.

A short detour into the world of teaching and then back to the arts. My marketing position at the Maltz Jupiter Theater gave me insight into the workings of a regional theater and also introduced me to actors, producers, and directors who insisted that I needed to be in New York. As soon as I finished my MS in Non-Profit Management, I took their advice. I packed a bag, got on a plane, stayed with a friend of a friend and haven’t looked back (except every January when I’m really cold).

I started at The New York City Center as a digital content coordinator then moved on to

TheaterMania in marketing and sales. My independent work for Marathon Live Entertainment has led me to work with hit Broadway shows such as Hamilton, The Great Comet, Bandstand, Head Over Heels, Escape to Margaritaville, and Miss Saigon.

More opportunities opened in contributing to important non-profit work such as creating content for the work of Broadway for Orlando, Katie’s Art Project, Broadway Barks for Broadway Cares/ Equity Fights Aids and Voice for the Voiceless.

I started Pets of Broadway to promote theater and the value of relationships with animals through joyful content. It allowed me into the lives of creative and giving people.

I am grateful for the people that have come my way to share their talents and kindness.
